Mr. Janke previously held the rank of Chief Deputy at the Brown County Sheriff’s Department, Green Bay, WI. He commanded the Emergency Response Unit at the Sheriff’s Department. The Emergency Response Unit is comprised of the Tactical Unit, Field Force and the Bomb Squad. He is also a certified Firefighter II, Engineer/Aerial Operator with the Village of Howard Fire Department, Howard, WI. He holds the rank of Assistant Chief.
He is currently serving on the National Institute of Justice committee tasked with identifying pursuit management and abatement technology, the Wisconsin Department of Justice Committee tasked with establishing and reviewing curriculum for all Vehicle Contact Instructors in Wisconsin and establishing curriculum for all Ethics Instructors in Wisconsin.
Mr. Janke holds State of Wisconsin Unified Tactical Instructor ratings in Firearms, Defense and Arrest Tactics and Emergency Vehicle Operations. He is a Wisconsin Department of Justice, Training and Standards Instructor Trainer for Vehicle Contacts Instruction. Mr. Janke is an instructor trainer for the Technical Level Incident Response to Terrorism Bombings Course sponsored by the United States Justice Department. He instructs Incident Command, COBRA Terrorism Awareness Courses and Incident Response to Terrorism Bombings Awareness level. He is also trained as a Performance Assessor and as a Mediator.
He has become a specialist in terrorism planning and response, which includes strategic planning, intelligence operations, operations assessment and security, tactical operations, dignitary protection, crowd control and explosives handling.
Mr. Janke was voted Wisconsin Law Enforcement Training Officer of the Year in 1998. He instructs at New Mexico Tech., Northeast Wisconsin Technical College and Fox Valley Technical College.
